A hungry teenage assassin fired two shots that struck and killed Austro-Hungarian heir, Franz Ferdinand. The assassination that forever changed the world and led to the series of events that triggered the outbreak of World War I will be on display in On the Brink: A Month That Changed the World, which opens March 15 at the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial. This special exhibition in Memory Hall was created with support from the Austrian National Archives, Serbian National Archives, Library of Congress, Kansas City Public Library and The British Library.

The National World War I Museum is teaming with area amateur radio operators to host special event station WW1USA from the grounds of the Liberty Memorial for 31 consecutive hours from Saturday, Aug. 2 at 10 a.m. through Sunday, Aug. 3 at 5 p.m. During this time, station operators will contact hundreds of other amateur radio operators across the world. Individuals are welcome to serve as a guest operator of WW1USA at any time during regular Museum hours with all guests receiving a special amateur radio operator certificate.

A hungry teenage assassin fired two shots that struck and killed Austro-Hungarian heir, Franz Ferdinand. The assassination that forever changed the world and led to the series of events that triggered the outbreak of World War I will be on display in On the Brink: A Month That Changed the World, which opens March 15 at the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial. This special exhibition in Memory Hall was created with support from the Austrian National Archives, Serbian National Archives, Library of Congress, Kansas City Public Library and The British Library.
